Lagos State Ministry Of Education Shuts School Over Flogging Of Two-Year-Old Pupil
The Lagos State Ministry of Education has shut down Unic Vilos Montessori school after a toddler was given 24 strokes of the cane.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo, who confirmed the incident while speaking to Channels stated that the ministry ordered the closure of the school after confirming the story.
According to her, the decision was taken after it was discovered that the school, which is located within an elementary school operates without approval.
Naija News reports that the victim’s mother, Faustina Ohamadike had come online with her daughter’s story after the school proprietress threatened her for confronting the teacher who inflicted her daughter.
The victim’s family reportedly live opposite the school, in which the proprietress and the teacher who allegedly gave 24 strokes of the cane live in too.
Following the ordeal, Folashade confirmed that a combined team of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, the Domestic Violence and Response Unit, and the Ministry of Youths and Social Development, arrested the teacher and proprietress on Monday.
While the proprietress was released earlier in the week, the teacher is still in detention.
