Non-indigenes lament disengagement, denial of entitlements, discrimination in Zamfara civil service
The Association of Non-indigenes in Zamfara State has lamented wrongful termination of appointments, discrimination and denial of entitlements of non-indigenes in the civil service.
According to the association, the non-indigenes who were disengaged from the state civil service have been facing serious economic challenges due to the disengagement and non-payment of their entitlements.
The president of the association, Engr. Joel Thomas, stated this in Gusau, the state capital, when the group welcomed the newly-appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Community Relations, Alhaji Suleiman Aliyu, and to assure the state government of their support in the fight against the security challenges in the state through prayers.
According to the non-indigenes, they were at the JB Secretariat to receive the newly appointed Aliyu and to collaborate with him to foster unity, tolerance and peaceful co-existence in the state.
The group, however, enumerated their problems which include discrimination, wrongful termination of members’ employment in the state civil service and denial of their entitlements.
Thomas, therefore, urged the Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle-led administration to correct the situation and carry them along.
Speaking earlier, the chairperson of the women wing of the association, Zainab Fadipe, noted that the women appreciate the fight against the security challenges which she said was everyone’s business, saying that they have been contributing their quotas by providing proper upbringing to their children so that they will not engage in criminal activities.
Responding, Aliyu assured the association that the state government, under the leadership of Matawalle would investigate the issues and address them for the peaceful harmony and development of the state.
He stated that the Directorate of Inter-Community Relations would work with the Association of Non-Indigenes in the state to promote peace, order and stability to enhance the socio-economic activities in the state.
